Independent Bookstore Day is a nationwide, annual one-day event to celebrate indie bookstores and the general love of books. I was given two quotes to include: "I would be most content if my children grew up to be the kind of people who think decorating consists mostly of building enough bookshelves." —Anna Quindlen “A half-read book is a half-finished love affair." —David Mitchell The goal of the imagery was to be current and appeal to a wide (and bookish) audience. I wanted to avoid the obvious by illustrating books, so I opted for succulents to allude to home decoration, and socks and shoes as a representation of love affairs. I had so much fun with this project!
